Sarah Hinder-Boyd (Board Chair)
I’m Sarah Hinder-Boyd. My two daughters love attending Paraparaumu Beach School, and as an active local family, we spend our time at community events, playing sports, tramping, camping, and volunteering together.
As Board Chair, I’m dedicated to keeping PBS a safe, inclusive, and well-governed school where every student can thrive. My experience in risk management, governance, finance, and strategy helps me support sound decisions and guide the school with care.
We’re lucky to have passionate staff, engaged families, and a strong community. I’m proud to continue serving on this Board and look forward to continuing our great progress.
Jake Wills
Kia ora, I’m Jake Wills.
With two children currently at Paraparaumu Beach School, and three more to follow, my family is deeply invested in the long-term success of our school community. We chose PBS for its wonderful community spirit and dedicated teachers, and I want to help build on that strong foundation.
As a local teacher and the Director of IT at Kapiti College, I have spent my career working in education, including being seconded to the Ministry of Education. My experience in the secondary sector gives me a unique perspective on the full educational journey our children will take, and I understand the importance of building a strong foundation in these crucial primary years.
I like to bring a practical, evidence based, and child-centered approach to the Board. It is my privilege to help support our fantastic teachers and staff, ensuring they have the resources they need, make clear, evidence-based decisions that put student well-being first and help foster the strong sense of community that makes our school so special. I am privileged to serve our school community and work collaboratively with the rest of the board to help every student thrive.
Stephen Monu
Tēnā koe, ko wai au – nō Ngāi Tūhoe ahau.
I’m a proud father of four and live in Guildford Drive. Two of my children, Kaia Monu and Nikau Monu, currently attend Paraparaumu Beach School, with another two to follow in the coming years.
I work at Te Papa as the Facilities Operations Manager, where I help ensure the smooth running and care of one of Aotearoa’s most significant public institutions. My role reflects the values I bring to all areas of life—responsibility, manaaki, and service. I’m passionate about supporting our tamariki and school community, and I believe in working together to create a safe, inclusive, and thriving environment for all.
I am honoured to contribute to the Board of Trustees and help guide PBS into the future.
Shaun Ferris
I have 2 boys at PBS, one in Year 3 and one in Year 5. I’m very keen to see the school grow and go from strength to strength, providing an environment that gives students everything they need for their journey through education. In my mind a key part of that is to ensure there continues to be effective guidance and oversight.
I have many years experience as a Chartered Accountant. A large part of that experience has been working with and presenting to Boards ultimately driving the delivery and success of those organisations. I’m hoping to use this experience to help the future success of PBS.
Moroni Sunnex
Tēnā koutou katoa,Ko Moroni Sunnex tōku ingoa. He uri ahau nō Ngāpuhi me Ngāti Raukawa.
I was blessed to have incredible experiences throughout each phase of my schooling. I’m a proud father of three beautiful children. My eldest is currently attending Paraparaumu Beach School, with our second set to start in 2026.
I have been a secondary school teacher for 13 years and am currently the Head of English at Kāpiti College. I’m also a keen sportsman, having played and coached basketball, rugby, cricket, and league at various levels over the years. My experience in secondary education has given me a strong understanding of the required levels to pass the new literacy and numeracy co-requisite tests and NCEA.
I’m passionate about learning and about supporting primary-aged students, especially in how they can be best prepared in their younger years. I acknowledge that not all students learn in the same way, and that the concept of success can differ for each child and whānau. Students have the right to feel safe, and teachers have the right to feel supported by their school board.
My daughter has had a warm and positive experience at PBS, and I would love the opportunity to continue building on the supportive culture that already exists. I am a Kāhui Ako leader at Kāpiti College with a focus on mātauranga Māori. I am committed to embedding te ao Māori in education in natural, sustainable, and authentic ways that uphold mana and foster a strong sense of belonging for all tamariki.
I stood for the Board because I believe I can bring educational expertise, cultural insight, and a positive, collaborative voice to the table.
Ngā mihi nui, Moroni Sunnex
