At PBS, our school values encourage respect for all people and cultures. With Di Puati’s mahi with our girls’ Pasifika performance group and an upcoming Tapa creation project through our Kahui Ako and KCDC, we’ve seen a wonderful growth in pride and interest among students from Pacific nations. Our school whānau includes students who whakapapa to Samoa, the Cook Islands, Tonga, Fiji, and Tokelau, and it’s exciting to see elements of these cultures represented.
Awesome examples can be seen in the artworks below, created by Room 1. It’s great to see that such Pasifika-inspired patterns are increasingly finding their way into everyday schoolwork — a vibrant reminder of the richness our diverse community brings to PBS.
