Hello Everyone
Last week you all should have received a link, via HERO, to our PBS Board survey. If you missed this message, don’t worry, we will send it out again today. This survey will help our Board gather baseline information, which can be used to measure the success of our 2026-2028 Strategic Plan. The Board would love to hear your feedback, as this will help them understand what PBS is doing well and where we can continue to improve over the coming years.
This survey is anonymous and should take around 5-8 minutes to complete. The survey will only be open for one more week, so make sure you have your say by Wednesday, 19 August to go in the draw to win one of two $100 Warehouse vouchers!

Creativity was certainly on show at PBS today! A huge thank you to everyone who entered the Student Council’s Superhero-Inspired Cupcake Competition. We were blown away by the creativity, imagination and sense of fun on display, with more than 250 cupcakes entered!
The first round of judging focused on creativity and design — no easy task with so many fantastic entries! Once the cupcakes were sold, students had the very important job of rating them for taste as well. When the scores for design and taste are combined, we’ll be able to crown our winning cupcake creators at Friday’s Hero Parade.
Best of all, all profits from the bake sale will be donated to Ronald McDonald House, making all that creativity (and deliciousness!) count for a great cause.

Using Māori Language at Home
Learning another language provides many benefits including greater academic achievement, greater cognitive development, and more positive attitudes towards other languages and cultures. So, let’s give it a go and help to revitalise this unique language to Aotearoa for our tamariki. Each week our newsletter will include words or phrases that you might like to try out at your kāinga/home.

Super Hero Friday
Super Hero is on this Friday (14 August). Who’s your hero?
Dress up as your favourite hero and bring a gold coin to help us to support The Ronald McDonald House Charity. These guys are heroes in our community who help families when they need it most. They provide free accommodation when families have a child in hospital and need to stay nearby. They help with meals and other practical things as well. We’d like to give back and show them our support.
New Entrant Parent Information Presentation – Tātahi Syndicate
A New Entrant Information Presentation will be held for all parents of new children on Friday, 21 August at 10am – 10.30am in the school staffroom.
This session will:
- provide an overview of the ‘Transition to School’
- provide an overview of the New Entrant Programme in reading, writing and mathematics
- highlight how you can help at home with learning
In Tātahi Syndicate, we believe that successful partnerships between home and school are established when both parties have a shared expectation and knowledge of their child’s learning. We would love to see you there.

Morning tea treats of yummy homebaking will be for sale from Tuesday, 18 August until Tuesday, 15 September at morning tea time. Everything is 50c – $2 and everything is delicious! Thank you for supporting Te Motu Senior Camp.

Consultation is now open on Kāpiti Coast District Council’s Draft Speed Management Plan 2026–36
KCDC is asking for feedback on its draft Speed Management Plan. The plan looks at safer speeds and road safety improvements on local roads, including around schools. Have your say by midnight on Tuesday, 15 September at https://haveyoursay.kapiticoast.govt.nz/SpeedManagementPlan.
Feedback is encouraged from school staff, parents, caregivers, students and Boards of Trustees about local safety issues and priorities.
NB: Hard copy information and submission forms are also available at Council’s libraries or service centres.
