"Together we are lifelong CREST learners"
Principal's Message
Hello Everyone
Wow, this spring weather just keeps on giving and not in a good way! Let’s hope that summer is a long, warm one when it arrives.
By this weekend, we’ll be into November — and the countdown to the end of the school year (and Christmas) will begin.
As the festive season approaches, my heart always feels a little tug. I know this time of year can be tough for some families and Santa’s finances aren’t looking great either! So, to give Santa a helping hand, we’ll be setting up a Christmas Giving Tree in the school office.
If you’d like to contribute, simply wrap a small gift, attach a note with the age and type of child who might enjoy it, and pop it into the office. Our PBS elves will make sure it finds its way to a child who could use a little extra Christmas magic this year.

PRINCIPAL’S C.R.E.S.T CORNER:
At PBS we champion our school C.R.E.S.T values in everything we do.
Curiosity. Respect. Excellence. Self Management. Teamwork
Last week, every class completed their inquiry learning cycle, culminating in a vibrant school-wide sharing expo. Students and teachers took part in a “walk-about,” visiting other classrooms to explore the wide range of topics and projects on display. It was a wonderful celebration of curiosity, creativity, and innovation. Below are a few photos of this great work.

Outstanding Achiever Award
Paraparaumu Beach School Board is now seeking nominations for this year’s Outstanding Achiever Award.
The purpose of this award is to acknowledge students who have achieved at a very high level, and to promote these students as role models throughout our school community in a manner that reflects and incorporates our school CREST values. We encourage nominations from Years 4-8 students.
The nomination forms are available on Hero, our website and paper copies are available at the school office. Nominations close at 3pm on Friday, 21 November.

Driver Behaviour
We are receiving an increasing number of reports recently concerning driver behaviour around the school which need addressing. This seriously impacts our ability to keep kids or other road users safe around the school.
We have seen drivers using cellphones whilst operating vehicles, kids without seatbelts, cars travelling over the 30km limit and reports of sideswiped vehicles!
If you have witnessed or experienced first-hand any issues of this nature we encourage you to ring the Police 105 phone number.
FREE Parent Education Event: Raising Resilient Children With Kathryn Berkett
(Tuesday, 18 November 6.15pm and Paraparaumu College)
Our Kāhui Ako of five schools is funding this parent education evening because we consider it highly relevant and important for all families.
We use the word resilience all the time, we want it for ourselves and for our children. But what does it actually look like? And how do we develop it?

Using Māori Language at Home
Learning another language provides many benefits including greater academic achievement, greater cognitive development, and more positive attitudes towards other languages and cultures. So, let’s give it a go and help to revitalise this unique language to Aotearoa for our tamariki. Each week our newsletter will include words or phrases that you might like to try out at your kāinga/home.
Here are some essential kupu that you may hear ia ra (everyday)
Give these kīwaha (idioms) a try this week

Te Moana Athletics Day
Last Wednesday, Te Moana was fortunate to enjoy a break in the stormy weather, allowing us to successfully run our Athletics Day. Their enthusiasm, effort and support for one another made for an exciting and fun day.
