"Together we are lifelong CREST learners"

Principal's Message

Kia ora koutou

As a school we want to maintain good relationships with our school neighbours. Whilst living near a school may be desirable for some and a choice for others, it doesn’t mean that it’s a desired option for all.  Therefore, as a school we do try to address concerns raised by neighbours as best as we can.

Recently, I have heard from residents in Beachwater Grove who are very upset with driver behaviour in their street including cars being side-swiped, driveways being blocked and aggressive notes being left on cars!

This is so disappointing to hear.  So I implore everyone to spread the word about safe, legal and respectful driver behaviour around PBS.

PRINCIPAL’S C.R.E.S.T CORNER:

At PBS we champion our school C.R.E.S.T values in everything we do.
Curiosity. Respect. Excellence. Self Management. Teamwork

I was fortunate to get out of the office last week and enjoy the sunshine at the Junior Winter Tournament.  I was so proud of the great teamwork I saw on display at the football; every player, whether they were a long-time player or new to the game, really put in a super effort and shared the successes they achieved as a collective.  Ka rawe koutou!

If you have a five year old new entrant due to start school during this time, then please contact the office on 298 5775 and we will arrange for you to receive application papers.  If you have already been in touch with your details, then we will email the documents out to you.

In Other News ...

This morning our office staff came in to find hot water bottles radiating warmth on their chairs. Turns out our kind caretaker, JT, decided to start this cold day off with kindness; what a magnificent role model of the CREST values!

Using Māori Language at Home

Learning another language provides many benefits including greater academic achievement, greater cognitive development, and more positive attitudes towards other languages and cultures. So, let’s give it a go and help to revitalise this unique language to Aotearoa for our tamariki. Each week our newsletter will include words or phrases that you might like to try out at your kāinga/home.

Here are some essential kupu that you may hear ia ra (everyday)

Give these phrases a try this week:

Māku koe e āwhina – I will help you

Mā tātou koe e āwhina – We will help you

Kid's Quote

After going to the office to seek medical attention for banging her head, a young student told her teacher she had “just been to the incredible room”!

Te Moana – Junior Winter Tournament

Over the past five weeks, Te Moana students have been busy preparing for the annual Interschool Junior Winter Tournament. Students selected to play either hockey, netball, football, or rippa rugby, dedicating time each week to develop their skills. While some were new to their chosen sport, others were more experienced and enjoyed the challenge of playing in the competitive division.

The tournament day, last Wednesday, brought sunny skies and plenty of excitement, as our players represented us with pride. They showed teamwork, effort and excellence in line with our CREST values. It was a fantastic day of competition, growth and sports-manship. We are incredibly proud of every student who took part.

A big thank you to all the parents who helped supervise and manage teams. We truly appreciate your support in making this day possible.

NETBALL

Reminder to Return Netball Tops

PBS Jewels, PBS Sparkles and PBS Diamonds players, can you please remember to bring your washed netball top back to school.

Semi-Finals Weekend

We are coming to the end of the netball season and it is semi-finals weekend. Best of luck to all the teams playing this weekend.

School Polo Shirts

Don’t forget you can purchase your school polo shirt through Kindo or with correct cash at the office.  Shirts cost $55 each and it is necessary that students have their own top for sports such as touch rugby (coming up soon) etc.
